How would I rate AHS? 5/5 for sure!
A guilty pleasure of mine, binge watching TV shows, especially when it is a few seasons in. American Horror Story wasn’t my first choice for my monthly marathon (the only kind I like).
But since I’ve watched almost everything and got bored of Marco Polo and Nikita (yeap, I’ve been covering the oldies as well, my recent favourite is Dead Like Me), I thought hey, let’s give AHS a second shot.
I did watch the first episode of Season 1 a long long time ago, but I got too freaked out to even continue. I have to admit, the fact that Lady Gaga was acting in Season 5 made me rather curious.
So off I went and started with Season 4. It was the most available at the time.
Gotta love the posters! Perfect blend of photography and photoshop 🙂
One thing for sure, the first episode of each season is the scariest and most psychologically tormenting. Stuff of nightmares at times. Some parts almost mentally perverted. A different type of scary vs Supernatural or even True Detective.
So back to season 4 which was about circus freaks. Jessica Lange, my hat off to you! Such an incredible performance. I noticed many actors and actresses from different TV shows like the ‘lizard girl’ who also happened to have a small role in The Newsroom.
As I worked my way backwards, season 3, season 2 then finally season 1, I realised that AHS had a different storyline but had the SAME actors. So I started off with the circus freaks, then coven, followed by asylum and lastly, haunted house.
Anyone noticed the ‘orang minyak’ resemblance/significance in AHS Haunted House?
Sarah Paulson is absolutely captivating! I’m still rather mind blown how she can pull off all the different roles given. And all, if I may add, are of different types of scary and crazy.
I have a mini crush on Evan Peters naturally. Boyish good looks and has the potential to be both angelic and evil.
Sarah Paulson, like Evan Peters and Jessica Lange have been the most frequent actors and actresses in AHS. Sad that Jessica Lange wasn’t in AHS Hotel 🙁
I knew I’ve seen her before! A quick IMDB check and lo behold, Frances Conroy was also in Six Feet Under.
My favourite has to be AHS circus freaks to be honest. AHS coven a very close second. As I’m finishing up season 5, AHS hotel is actually pretty okay.
The storyline moved a little too slow mid season. Lady Gaga definitely saved it and kept my interest and curiosity appeased. She can actually act rather well. Thumbs up!
She used that poker face skills to good use. I couldn’t identify her as that meat wearing singer songwriter anymore, sort of a lil’ mindfu*ked about that too. Boundless talent this one. I can’t wait to see more from her!
She even won Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (a mouthful even to type) by the Golden Globes.
Lady Gaga at the Emotion Revolution Summit 2015. Definitely worth a peak 🙂 Lady Gaga has been running the Born This Way Foundation. A lil’ control C + control V from the foundation website:
We shine a light on young people, youth advocates and community members that embody our mission.
We hope to leverage the reach of Born This Way to tell the stories of an empowered, creative and compassionate generation that is working hard to build a kinder and braver world.
Lady Gaga, what more can I possibly say? I heart you.
Even the Queen of Screams herself, Emma Roberts had a great role in AHD Coven and AHS Freak Show
How would I rate AHS? 5/5 for sure!
Plus, I like how they use the same actors. I think they have loads of fun playing the vastly different roles from season to season. Definitely a challenge!
AHS seem to make evil, crazy, perversions and supposed deformities, beautiful. How behind every perversion and act of madness has a story and reasoning behind it, wether acceptable or not.
You end up going through mental stockholm syndrome and end up attached and even root for the dark side.
They even point out that the superficial good side actually house the most evil of evil, how even I guess the aunty next door holds a dark secret and hides behind a plastered fake smile.
Denial is very powerful.
Till my next blogpost, have a good 2016 ahead. Who knows what’s in store. Oh, I started a humble Watch(ed)list: TV with all the shows I’ve recently watched. Not entirely complete yet, but if your drugs of choice is similar to mine, click here.
Best character ever played by Denis O’Hare! Yes Liz Taylor, you definitely bleed Dior!
